Hey I was wondering if anyone can help me some questions on food vendors for pur BBQ competition. Its our second year and we are expanding. We had one BBQ vendor last year and got some complaints from the public about not enough BBQ and other foods for them at the Comp. Wondering what is the best way to recruit vendor to our even? Also what kind of fee is normally charged? Percentage of sales? flat fee? or just ask for a donation? We have the guy from last year interested in returning and the roasted corn guy is interested in coming. Any help would be greatly apprieciated.

Shawn, if O.C.P.A. is competing there try him, Matt vends as well. You should be able to PM him here.

Hi Shawn,

I have a couple of ideas for you, contacting other organizers of events would be good-like Que and Cruz , Pork in the Park, Shrewsbury Market and Smokin in the Valley all therse organizers are great folks. Also I just googled "BBQ Competition Vender Application" I looked on many that had a variety of ways that they charge until I was dizzy (dizzier than I already am   ) It will give you alot of insight than you could find people in your local area for a variety of things. I hope that helps. Thou hopefully Matt from OCPA will chime in on the contest that he vends at.

Shawn,

You had a great 1st year event last year!

The challenge for vendors is traffic... Do you have any idea what the count was of attendees last year?

You will need to convince anyone that vends that the event will be well advertized and that they will get traffic.

Just my 2 cents... looking forward to this years comp.

I put out ads on Craigs list. Thats where most of my vendors came from.
